To survive in the swamps of The Endless Crimson, all Lish are born with the ability to breathe underwater for several hours using gills located on their ears.
To both see in the dark depths of their swamps and lure prey, Lish possess an appendage attached to their foreheads that support a bioluminescent bulb. They are able to change the amount of light this bulb produces, though it glows brightly when they experience an orgasm.
Their skin comes in an endless variety of vivid colors and intricate patterns, nearly considered to be works of art by other humanoids. While often appearing to have bilateral symmetry, many Lish are born with unsymmetrical patterns. Feeling wet and slick to the touch, Lish skin is extremely slippery.
After conception, every Lish mother lays a large quantity of small eggs. These eggs lack a protective shell, and burst easily when mishandled. They come in the color of a deep orange, sufficiently transparent enough to allow observers to watch the child slowly develop within. As they grow, reaching the full size of an infant, the mother is able to assess the viability of each child, discarding any that are undersized or malformed. The vast majority perish before bursting from their eggs.

History and Culture
Creation
After the formation of Ayphieal, Lish were created by Dorian The Creator, alongside Lanthians, Arkos, Dril, and Taziks, by modifying the genome of a pair of humans aboard The Chimira. The Creator slowly modified and mutated their genes over the course of several months while they were kept comatose in large biological tanks until they became the first Lish on Ayphieal, one male and one female.
The pair were permitted by Dorian to breed shortly after their creation to test their fertility and the viability of their new species. After the female birthed the first batch of eggs, Dorian studied them until they hatched. Confirming that they were able to produce offspring, he used the pair as templates to create an additional one thousand pairs from the original human volunteers aboard The Chimira.
When his creations were complete, Dorian placed the new Lish population deep within the dangerous swamps covering the Southeastern lands of Magnius in crimson-colored vegetation.
