“Such cruelty they enforce on their own population…the utter devotion to the selection of a prime mate. It is…fascinating.”

Biological Traits
Purebreds
Having been designed by The Creator to survive atop the gargantuan trees of the southern jungles, Lanthians possessed wings that allowed them to effortlessly fly from the dangerous jungle floor to the highest treetops.
All Lanthians were born with dual skin tones, bisected by half dark and half light green skin. The opposing shades of skin met in the center of their bodies in a slightly wavy line that was unique to every individual Lanthian.
Their skin coloration matched their eggs, each one protected by a hard dark and light green shell. Though every egg was only a few inches wide, it was rare for Lanthian mothers to develop more than one during each conception. This granted their pregnancies a modest look, hardly affecting their agility and flight speed.

History and Culture
Creation
Lanthians, much like the other humanoid species inhabiting the continent of Magnius, were created by Dorian The Creator shortly after the formation of Ayphieal by modifying the genome of two humans aboard The Chimira, a male and female. While they were kept comatose in large biological tanks, alongside four other human pairs that were adapted into Arkos, Dril, Lish, and Taziks, The Creator slowly modified and mutated their genes over the course of several months, becoming the first Lanthians.
Satisfied by his creations, Dorian allowed the pair to mate, testing their fertility. After studying the birth of the first Lanthian purebred, Dorian used the pair as templates, creating an additional one thousand pairs from the original human volunteers aboard The Chimira.
After the creation of the species, Dorian placed the new Lanthian population deep within the southern jungles of Magnius, in an area within what would later become The Kingdom of Lanth, where their name originates.
Pre-Empire

Left by their creator to fend for themselves in the southern jungles, the original Lanthians used their wings to escape the dangers lurking on the jungle floor. They began to build their villages atop the colossal trees, spreading out to claim dominion over the land from above.
Their matriarchal nature quickly blossomed as their civilizations emerged, enslaving all males of the species. Faced with little resistance from their predominantly submissive counterparts, the females utilized their slaves for construction, treetop fruit farming, and pleasure, while training the most capable women into skilled huntresses. Each slave was expected daily to contribute to their village, as well as to satisfy the various lusts of any woman that required his service.
Over several decades, their practice of slavery slowly brought forth an obsession with breeding rights as females selected only the strongest slaves to mate with. The practice of castrating weaker slaves was exceedingly common, eventually becoming mandatory by law in several villages.
Villages grew into thriving cities, gradually splintering over generations until a Lanthian by the name of Kanara emerged to unify them as one. She traveled to every city and challenged the ruling warriors for their thrones, defeating each in single combat. Proving herself to be the superior fighter of every city, she conquered the land without an army. Unified, she created The Kingdom of Lanth, becoming the first Miarch.
Under the reign of Kanara, the various traditions regarding breeding rights were consolidated into one mandatory tradition. She selected the strongest male of the capital city, naming him as her first Priarch. This new title granted him the responsibilities of protecting the Miarch and breeding with every ovulating female of The Capital that desired to conceive. She placed her throne above his, whispering her commands for him to proclaim. Kanara declared that every village and city would be ruled by a local Miarch and a Priarch, ensuring that only the strongest males were able to spread their seed. Every Miarch after Kanara would be selected for her wisdom, while Priarchs were selected for their skill and strength.
To determine who would become Priarchs, Kanara enacted a new tradition. By law, every Lanthian male was sealed into strict chastity before they reached maturity. A tournament was held every year in each village and city, forcing boys that reached the age of manhood that year to compete in brutal nonlethal duels. The final victor was permitted an opportunity to challenge the current local Priarch, either proving himself stronger and claiming the title, or perishing.
Proven inferior, and therefore unworthy to breed, the defeated of each tournament faced a far crueler fate. Their wings were removed and, far worse, they were castrated to prevent their weakness from passing to future generations. They remained slaves for the rest of their lives, forced to serve females that only their Priarch could breed. Due to the biology of Lanthians, however, castrated slaves remained capable of pleasuring their mistresses, only having their testicles removed.
The descendants of Kanara continued to grow and develop Lanth over several generations until they founded the first Lanthian Empire, solidifying her laws and traditions as the population grew decadent. Communal by nature, The Lanthian Empire required no form of currency, as the populations of every village shared their resources. The women hunted, ate, and slept together, sharing everything. Slaves served them as if they were goddesses. In return, they were treated as little more than pets by their collective mistresses.
Reproduction became communal as well, as every woman laid her eggs to be stored in an incubation temple. Without knowing which child belonged to which mother, children were raised together by the collective population. This also served to remove any shame related to birthing a male future slave, nor pride in conceiving a female.
